Carello driving/fog lights

Post by Anbele »

I just got (scored!) two Carello driving lights…took them apart to clean them and polish the chrome. I try to separate the glass from the reflector part of it but it seems that they’re fused together. Is this true? Or it has fused together cuz of time? Thanks in advance for any input.

Well, to be honest, not really sure. I just guess cuz they’re Italian made and vintage—usually 30+yrs—they are expensive (to me at least). So when I came across them on EBay at a reasonable price, I grabbed them. And will give my 124 a very nice look. I’ll try to post a picture when installed.

Try soaking the glass/chrome bond with a bit of acetone. Just gently dab it on with a Q-tip or similar. I'm guessing that there's some sort of glue or gasket, and the acetone will help soften it. Be careful not to get acetone on any plastic, like the lens or such.

Thanks Bryan! I’ll try that trick and follow up with the results.

Are these just the main head light units or external, additional driving lights?

Additional driving lights…like the ones you usually see on the 124 ABARTH…not the ones imbeded on the hood though.

….I guess a more appropriate description would be “like the ones found on the Volumex models sold over in Europe”…like this one:
