I have a 1978 Fiat 124 spider that I have put a lot of love into....It does not have the original radio
or speakers....
I want to upgrade to something that is practical and am willing to go to a newer touch screen system
with a lot of upgrades...
Anyone out there to offer suggestions?
4 speaker system better than front only
Booster or no??

This may not be what you're looking for, but I thought it was cool and figured I'd throw it out there anyway.
It's an aftermarket radio that looks close to period correct for the car, and can come with the modern amenities such as bluetooth, aux cables, etc.

I went with the Retrosound unit and am happy with it. I wanted something that didn’t look out of place but had Bluetooth.
If you do like a more modern touchscreen. Saw this picture on a FB group and thought it was well done.

Re: new stereo system
This is something i NEEDED to do, the car was missing the upper console so i fabricated one and fitted a screen at the bottom. When off you can barely see it.
The stock radio location i am using for some switches (electric fuel pump, interior lights) & altimeter and chronometer.
WORK IN PROGRESS....

Very nice, Raptor, I like it! Just curious: Where did you get the chrome bezel around the base of your shift boot? Or is that custom made?

That link is broken due to the extra slashes and e inserted near the beginning of the link.TwinFast wrote:On of the best quality/price stereo system is the CALIBER series (RMD120DAB-BT)

$208 may not be what some might consider a great price to quality ratio especially after shipping. 300 watts may be a bit excessive for a tiny 2 seater so a decent quality unit with a respectable noise ratio in the 50ish watt range would for most be a better choice at less than half the cost.

We ordered from Retrosound. Arrived quickly. Added kicker speakers in boxes. Looks and sounds great. Has that retro look but with bluetooth, etc. The speakers fit easily in the trunk when parked.
Rock on.

Re: new stereo system
I put a mechless unit with a removable faceplate in mine. I'd like a double DIN touchscreen for Nav and such but limited dash real estate and fear of someone cutting the top to get it make that lees than ideal. In reality the combo of my phone and bluetooth is more than adequate.
