Hey all, not sure if I posted here before or when I actually signed up but it appears that my username is active.
So, I've been contemplating an engine conversion myself but mostly because my old twin cam is smokey, smelly, noisey & generally tired.
I've had this car for a long time (since about 1989 I think) and as they say over here, it's a bit like "triggers broom", it had the handle changed a few times and the brush a few times also. Currently it's running a transplanted stock Lancia 2 litre with a nice manifold and two twin choke webers. Perhaps I just need to look for another fiat/Lancia twin cam & just rebuild it, getting it run nice and tight? I will ponder some more.
It's been good to read this thread though, some good posts and interesting thoughts.
Just on the last post, putting a Dino V6 into a 124 spider - I used to run a Dino Coupe (the only one in Ireland at the time) and it was a really lovely engine. The noise made it sound, exotic! Just like an Italian sportscar should. I'm just not sure of the viability of it though, I'm not too sure of how easy it would be to find one - the honda, mazda, rover, Chevy option seems easier (and cheaper!)
